Workshops

All workshops offered through the KCK Organic Teaching Gardens are designed to connect students and teachers to the gardens at their school.  We seek to make connections with science, math, literature, nutrition, culture, and nature.  Workshops contain written and oral pre-surveys and post-surveys to measure objectives.  Workshops begin with a read-aloud of garden literature. (See our bibliography page.)  After this introduction we encourage a discussion with students about the workshop topic. Mentors ignite student’s minds with activities designed to engage their senses, using fresh food to represent different aspects of our garden research. Every aspect of gardening can become a workshop.  The Garden offers an endless opportunity to teach about all of the wonders of the universe.  Each workshop is available at early elementary through middle school levels.
