Volunteer Night!

On Thursday, October 27, from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, the KCK Organic Teaching Gardens held our second volunteer night of the year.  High School Seniors and Juniors, from Sumner and Washington High Schools helped wash, peel, and slice organically grown sweet potatoes.  These potatoes will be used in our Sweet Potato Workshops that begin on Tuesday, November 1, at Argentine Middle School.   Volunteer Nights will continue through the year, in Mr. Zeigler’s science classroom at Rosedale Middle School.

On Friday, October 28, 2011, the KCK Organic Teaching Gardens planted fall bulbs of tulips and daffodils, with 5 Sixth Grade classes at Argentine Middle School.  In total over 425 bulbs were planted near the front entryway to the school.

Planting “indoor’ Fall Gardens at Quindaro Elementary in KCK

On Friday, September 30, 2011 The KCK Organic Teaching Gardens planted “indoor” fall gardens with all of the 1st and 4th grade classes at Quindaro Elementary School in KCK. Students planted lettuce, radish and spinach in three different types of soil.
