KCK Organic Teaching Gardens

On Thursday, October 27, from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, the KCK Organic Teaching Gardens held our second volunteer night of the year.  High School Seniors and Juniors, from Sumner and Washington High Schools helped wash, peel, and slice organically grown sweet potatoes.  These potatoes will be used in our Sweet Potato Workshops that begin on Tuesday, November 1, at Argentine Middle School.   Volunteer Nights will continue through the year, in Mr. Zeigler’s science classroom at Rosedale Middle School.

On Friday, October 28, 2011, the KCK Organic Teaching Gardens planted fall bulbs of tulips and daffodils, with 5 Sixth Grade classes at Argentine Middle School.  In total over 425 bulbs were planted near the front entryway to the school.

On Tuesday, October 25, 2011, The KCK Organic Teaching Gardens planted fall bulbs of tulips and daffodils at the front entry-way of their school.

On Monday, October 24, 2011, The KCK Organic Teaching Gardens planted fall bulbs of tulips and daffodils with all of the sixth grade students from Mr. Scoville’s science classes.

On Monday, October 17, the KCK Organic Teaching Gardens planted fall bulbs with all of the 5th grade classes at ME Pearson Elementary School in KCK.

On Friday, October 14, 2011 The KCK Organic Gardens project conducted fall bulb planting workshops with all of the 1st Grade and 4th Grade classes.

On Thursday, October 13, 2011 The KCK Organic Teaching Gardens planted fall bulbs of tulips and daffodils with all of the 4th grade classes at Frank Rushton Elementary School in KCK.

On Friday, October 7, 2011, all of the 4th grade classes at Banneker Elementary School in KCK planted fall bulbs of tulips and daffodils at part of the KCK Organic Teaching gardens.

On Friday, September 30, 2011 The KCK Organic Teaching Gardens planted “indoor” fall gardens with all of the 1st and 4th grade classes at Quindaro Elementary School in KCK. Students planted lettuce, radish and spinach in three different types of soil.
